The City is creating a plan to add public EV charging stations and alternative fuel options across Greeley. The plan will identify the best locations for these stations based on feedback from residents (including where people live, work, shop, and spend their time).

More people are driving EVs and alternative fuel vehicles every year. Public charging stations need to keep up with that growth — just like gas stations did decades ago. This plan also helps improve air quality and reduce pollution, which benefits the whole community.

That's exactly what we need your help to decide! The City wants to place charging stations where people already go — like parks, shopping areas, downtown, and other key destinations. Your feedback through our survey will help guide those decisions.

A battery electric vehicle (BEV) runs entirely on electricity and needs to be plugged in to recharge. A plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) uses both an electric battery and a gas engine, giving drivers more flexibility on longer trips.

Alternative fuels include biodiesel, natural gas, propane, hydrogen, and methanol — anything other than traditional gas or diesel. Most alternative fuel options for passenger cars involve EVs or PHEVs. Vehicle conversions to non-electric alternative fuels are currently only available for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles.

EVs and alternative fuel vehicles generally cost less to operate than gas-powered cars. Electricity and alternative fuels are often cheaper than gasoline, and EVs have fewer moving parts — which means lower maintenance costs over time.
