The Final Piece: Artwork Brings Park Transformation Full Circle

The final piece of the Delta Park project is now complete and it’s one you can see, sit with, and enjoy as you enter the park.

Local artist Armando Silva designed the new entryway monuments to welcome visitors into Delta Park. The circular structures are meant to be landmarks and gathering spots, with built-in seating that invites conversation, rest, and connection while others enjoy the park. Residents said they wanted a space to sit and talk with neighbors while watching their kids and grandkids play. The shade shelter, adirondack chairs, stone seating and now these monuments are tangible pieces that reflect what residents wanted in this space.

The mural on the pillars begins with the word Delta, spelled using a mix of playful and meaningful imagery. One of the letters includes a popsicle (paleta), inspired by the children’s book What Happened to My Paletas!? the book that helped show the diversity of Delta Park residents. The artwork also features sculptural elements of the sun and moon, with the sun rising in the east and setting in the west, grounding the piece in the rhythms of nature and place.

This artwork represents the final chapter of Delta Park’s transformation and reflects the creativity, diverse culture, and community spirit that shaped the project from start to finish.
