What is micromobility?

Micromobility refers to small, low-speed human- or electric-powered devices. Today, micromobility is most common in the form of bicycles, electric-assist bicycles (e-bikes), and electric scooters.

Greeley's micromobility pilot specifically focuses on shared micromobility business providers rather than privately-owned micromobility devices.

    What is shared/shared-use micromobility?

Shared (or shared-use) micromobility refers to a transportation system that provide either dockless or docked devices for short-term rentals, which can be used for trips in public rights-of-way or other permitted areas. Those devices remain in public even when not being rented/used.

Shared micromobility is part of a shared fleet using an app to locate, reserve, check out and process payment for the use of those devices.

Who will be Greeley's device operator?

Greeley plans to work with a private micromobility vendor to provide and maintain the communal devices. The business will be determined through a competitive Request for Proposals process conducted by the City prior to the launch of the pilot in July 2024. Staff will update this page once we select an operator.

    Where can I ride?

At this time, staff plans to propose a pilot zone that includes downtown Greeley and the University of Northern Colorado campus area. A finalized pilot micromobility zone will be reviewed by City Council prior to the launch of the pilot.
