Arroyos del Sol Site Plan Revealed

Protected Forever
On February 28, 2025, Greeley closed on the Arroyos del Sol property and protected it with a conservation easement. Trust for Public Land (TPL) purchased the land in 2022 to prevent development as Greeley grows. Colorado Open Lands will safeguard it permanently.
Site Plan Unveiled
Greeley’s Natural Areas & Trails Division is excited to share the vision for Arroyos del Sol—a new destination for outdoor adventure. Check out the full plan under Documents.
Shaped by the Community
Mundus Bishop designed the plan, which was guided by surveys, tours, and focus groups, to balance recreation and conservation. Wildlife, natural resources, and trail design experts also helped refine the vision.
Key Features
Trails for All – Hike scenic bluffs, explore prairies, or ride mountain biking trails for all skill levels.
Hilltop Hub – A gathering space with picnic areas, play zones, and exhibits on local history.
Wildlife Protection – Habitat zones protect 91+ animal species and one rare plant species.
Inclusive Access – trails, bike skills areas, and interpretive signs welcome all visitors.
Why It Matters
Arroyos del Sol will be a regional outdoor destination, celebrating Greeley’s natural beauty and boosting tourism. It will connect people and nature, offering space to explore, learn, and play.
What’s Next?
Upgrades will happen in phases, starting with trails, parking, shade pavilions, and restrooms. Future projects will expand these amenities while prioritizing conservation. Residents can stay involved through volunteer events and project updates on Speak Up Greeley.
The area is currently closed for winter to protect wildlife and muddy trails. Depending on the weather, it will reopen in late March or April. Check COTREX for trail conditions.
Partners & Funding
This project is made possible by TPL, Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO), and input from experts like the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) and Colorado Natural Heritage Program.
Greeley acquired the land in partnership with TPL using funding from GOCO, the Land and Water Conservation Fund, Ducks Unlimited, and contributions from Windsor.
