16th Street Enhancement Project - 10/20 update
This week, crews continued to focus on critical drainage improvements along the south side of 16th Street, including underground piping, manholes, and trench drains. These upgrades will help improve stormwater management and long-term roadway durability. Stage 2 continues to advance, with sidewalk, curb and paving work moving steadily between 9th and 11th Avenues. Crews will continue to work Saturdays to maintain project momentum.
Work Complete
- Travel is open to westbound traffic only on 16th Street; traffic signals have been removed or bagged, and the intersections are now partial roundabouts 
- Light poles have been removed on the south side of 16th Street with temporary lighting in place to maintain visibility and safety along the corridor 
- Sidewalk and curb & gutter demolition on the south side of the street is complete from 8th to 11th Avenue 
- Sidewalk paving from 10th to 11th Avenue is now complete 
Work Ongoing
- Underground drainage piping and manhold installation at 16th Street & 9th Avenue 
- Curb and gutter placement from 9th to 11th Avenue 
- Trench drain installation between 10th and 11th Avenue 
Upcoming Work
- Concrete pavement pours between 9th and 10th Avenues 
- Curb and gutter work from 9th to 10th Avenue 
Work on the south side of 16th Street is now 17% complete. Work will continue progressing to 8th Avenue over the coming weeks. Final landscaping and public art installations scheduled for Spring 2026, once conditions allow.
