16th Street Enhancement Project (updated 8/18)

Here’s your weekly construction update for the 16th Street Enhancement project. Our crews accomplished quite a bit over the last week and we remain on schedule for an August completion of the north side of 16th Street. (Above is a drone photo of the project.)

Work Completed

  • Traffic control remains in place, with all intersections operating as all-way stops.

  • Concrete roadway paving is complete between 10th and 11th Avenues.

  • Curb and gutter work is now complete at the 10th Avenue roundabout.

  • Installation of underground culverts, drainpipes, and trench drains is complete.

Work Ongoing

  • Sidewalk and curb/gutter removal and replacement continues on the north side of 16th Street between 9th and 10th Avenues.

  • Concrete pavement pours are in progress between 8th and 9th Avenues.

Upcoming Work

  • Installation of underground irrigation

  • Excavation and reconditioning of base materials to prepare for paving

  • Continued concrete pours between 9th and 10th Avenues

Project Timeline

  • Work on the north side of the street remains on schedule for completion at the end of August. We are now 70% complete with this work.

  • Construction will then shift to the south side of the street, with work wrapping up in Fall 2025.

  • Final landscaping and public art installations will occur in Spring 2026, once weather and planting conditions allow.

Crews will continue working on Saturdays to help keep the project moving forward and on schedule.
