16th Street Improvements Celebrated with Ribbon Cutting and Bear Bash

Last Friday, the community came together to celebrate the completion of a more welcoming and connected 16th Street corridor.
The September 18 celebration brought together the City of Greeley, the Downtown Development Authority, the University of Northern Colorado, and the Greeley Creative District. The event included a 16th Street ribbon-cutting, the UNC Bear Bash, the WeldWalls Mural Festival, and local business open houses. Together, the activities gave residents, students, and visitors a chance to experience the improvements along the corridor and spend time in the neighborhood.
The ribbon-cutting highlighted the changes along 16th Street between 7th and 11th Avenues, including wider, smoother sidewalks, new landscaping and lighting, improved parking, and street changes designed to slow traffic. Together, the improvements create a safer, more welcoming connection for people walking and biking between downtown and the University of Northern Colorado.
And what better way to celebrate the final piece of the project than with a Bear Bash? Thank you to everyone who shared feedback throughout the project, participated in public engagement events, and helped shape the improvements along 16th Street. We also thank the community partners, local businesses, and organizations that supported the project from planning through completion.
