Final Work Underway on 16th Street Ahead of September 18 Celebration
The 16th Street corridor is nearing completion! Crews will be installing the final public art and catenary lighting elements along the corridor September 14 – 16 in preparation for the upcoming ribbon-cutting and Bear Bash on September 18.
Temporary Traffic Impacts
To complete this work safely, one lane of 16th Street will be temporarily closed. The closure will depend on when lighting poles arrive:
North side work: If the lighting poles arrive by the morning of September 14, the westbound lane will close while crews work along the north side.
South side work: If the poles arrive after the morning of September 14, the eastbound lanes will close while crews work along the south side.
The temporary closure is expected to last through the installation work September 14 – 16. Drivers should expect temporary traffic impacts in the work area and follow the posted traffic-control and detour signs for the active closure. Please allow a little extra travel time when moving through the corridor.
These final improvements will add the lighting and public art elements that help complete the vision for the redesigned 16th Street corridor. We look forward to celebrating with the community at the ribbon-cutting and Bear Bash on September 18th!
