Stop by the Open House May 8!

Save the date! Phase two is about to begin, and we're having a community open house to discuss next steps on May 8.

As you may know, Water & Sewer completed phase one, which involved underground utility work, ahead of schedule in February. Now, Public Works will complete the aboveground work in a second phase, which includes roundabouts, sidewalks and parking.

We expect construction to begin mid-May, shortly after UNC’s graduation. It's our goal to have 16th Street open to traffic by the time students begin the fall semester.

Join us at Margie’s Java Joint, 931 16th Street, on May 8, any time between 4-6 p.m., to discuss construction over coffee and light refreshments. City staff will be present to talk about timelines, impacts and more. (Don't worry — 10th Avenue will be open for the Independence Day parade!)
