City Staff Present 2027 City Manager's Recommended Budget to City Council at Oct. 13 Work Session

City Manager Brian McBroom and Budget & Policy Director Nathan Mosley presented the 2027 City Manager's Recommended Budget to City Council. City staff discussed how the deficit arose, how staff addressed it through target-based budgeting, and what we learned from this budgeting process.

City Manager McBroom emphasized that difficult decisions were made and staff will now monitor the impacts of changes so that adjustments can be made in future budgets when evidence warrants. The recommended budget reduces costs to address the General Fund's structural deficit while protecting core services. By doing this work, the City has established a foundation to move forward in a more sustainable fashion.

Council will approve the budget in the coming weeks, with the 1st budget reading on October 20 and final reading, public hearings and adoption on November 17.
