Brentwood Middle School students played an important role in shaping the look and feel of the new Brentwood Park playground by helping select its color palette.
After gathering feedback from the neighborhood and students, the middle schoolers were invited to review color options and share their preferences. Their feedback helped guide the final color choices, which feature natural tones like green, beige, brown, and butterscotch accents.
While the playground is located next to Brentwood Middle School and used during school recess, students intentionally chose colors that complement the surrounding neighborhood park. The goal was to create a playground with a welcoming, community-wide identity rather than one tied exclusively to school colors.
The design team used this student input, along with community survey feedback, to finalize a color palette that reflects both youth preferences and the surrounding neighborhood.
Student voices continue to play an important role in shaping Brentwood Park, from how the playground functions to how it looks and feels.
