Brentwood’s new playground is coming soon. Construction begins next week during spring break, which helps reduce disruption while school is out.
When students return from break, they will see the old playground has been removed. Neighbors can expect to see demolition first, followed by concrete work to prepare the site for the new play equipment and safety surfacing.
If weather allows, installation of the new playground equipment is planned for the week of March 23. After that, the site will go through final safety inspections before it opens.
The new playground is expected to open in mid- to late April!

Brentwood Middle School students played an important role in shaping the look and feel of the new Brentwood Park playground by helping select its color palette.
After gathering feedback from the neighborhood and students, the middle schoolers were invited to review color options and share their preferences. Their feedback helped guide the final color choices, which feature natural tones like green, beige, brown, and butterscotch accents.
While the playground is located next to Brentwood Middle School and used during school recess, students intentionally chose colors that complement the surrounding neighborhood park. The goal was to create a playground with a welcoming, community-wide identity rather than one tied exclusively to school colors.
The design team used this student input, along with community survey feedback, to finalize a color palette that reflects both youth preferences and the surrounding neighborhood.
Student voices continue to play an important role in shaping Brentwood Park, from how the playground functions to how it looks and feels.

The Brentwood Park playground redesign is one step closer to becoming reality, thanks to input from the community and students at Brentwood Middle School.
From September 20 to October 19, residents shared their feedback through an online survey. Most respondents emphasized the importance of shade, accessibility and play equipment for a range of ages.
At Brentwood Middle School, students were invited to view four playground design boards and vote for their favorite by placing a dot sticker on the design they liked best. The concepts were given nicknames to help students imagine the play experience. Each concept featured the same central play tower with different combinations of climbers, spinners, swings and obstacle courses. View the concepts below:
"Epic" Design Option is Clear Winner
After hundreds of sticker votes, "Epic" came out on top as the students' favorite playground choice. The winning concept includes: a large play tower, a pyramid net climber, an obstacle course, swings, a spinner and a RoxAll seesaw. Together, these features offer a mix of challenges, movement and social play opportunities suitable for all ages.
The design team is now refining the concept by incorporating both student and community feedback before finalizing the playground plan later this year. We'll share an update on the final design once it's complete!
