Project Overview
A park has been planned in the Northridge Trails community at 71st Avenue and 4th Street. As more people have moved into the area, this is the ideal time to gather input on how the park should be designed. Your input will help shape how it looks, feels and functions for the community.
The park is named Calabaza Park, a nod to the nearby Pumpkin Ridge natural area. “Calabaza” is the Spanish word for pumpkin. A concept plan for the park was created in 2018 as part of the neighborhood development process. The upcoming design phase will build on that work while gathering updated community input to help shape the final park design.
Funding for the project comes from the Park Development Fund, which was established to pay for new or expanded park facilities and is budgeted for 2026.
Why This Matters
This neighborhood was slated for a park as the area was being developed. As the area has grown, the need for a place to gather, play and be outdoors has grown too. Resident feedback is essential for informing the design.
Get Involved and Help Shape the Park
Your feedback will help guide the design team as they create the final plan. Discussions to date have included ideas like:
Open grass space
Playground
A basketball or sports court
Walking paths
A picnic shelter and gathering space
Natural areas with plants and water features
These are just some early ideas. The final design isn’t set yet. We encourage you to share your opinions by taking our online survey. You can also visit our pop-up event in the park to meet the project team, fill out the on-site survey, and check out the concept boards. Don’t forget to look at the Key Dates section for information about engagement opportunities and the project timeline!
