As soon as Monday, September 21, the block of 9th Avenue between 11th and 12th streets near St. Peter’s Catholic Church will close for several months while crews install a new underground stormwater system.

The work area is tight, and the stormwater structures are too large to install as pre-cast pieces. Instead, crews will build the structures on-site. This construction approach will create more durable structures that provide a long-term solution for downtown infrastructure needs.

Building the system in place will also help reduce project costs. Once complete, the project will help reduce downtown flooding and support future development by improving the City’s water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure.

Join the City of Greeley as we officially kick off construction on the Downtown Infrastructure Project with a brief groundbreaking ceremony.

This event marks the beginning of major infrastructure improvements that will support a more connected, vibrant downtown for years to come. While much of the work will happen below ground, these critical upgrades will lay the foundation for future public spaces, development and continued investment in downtown Greeley.
