Redtail Park is Coming Soon and Bringing New, Exciting Features
Construction will start soon on Redtail Park, Greeley's newest neighborhood park. The park is located in the Westgate subdivision and is open to everyone. This exciting new space is designed for play, adventure and bringing the community together.
Project Goals

Help kids learn new skills like bike riding, scootering and climbing
Connect neighborhoods with new walking and biking paths
Create a meeting place where neighbors can get to know each other
Provide free outdoor activities for people of all ages and abilities
Redtail Park will have something for everyone. It will have places to play, enjoy nature and spend time with family and friends. It will be a great spot where neighbors can come together and connect.
What Makes This Park Special?
- Bike Playground: Redtail Park will have Greeley's first-ever bike playground! The bike playground is smaller and non-intimidating for new riders. It features a loop track, hills and tunnels that are fun to ride up, down and all around! This special area has fun challenges that help young bike riders improve and feel more confident on their bikes.
- Walking and Biking Trails: A wide 10-foot paved trail will run along the ditch, perfect for a family walk, bike riding, or a morning jog with your (leashed) dog. A new bridge will connect the two sides so people can easily walk, jog, or bike from one side to the other. These trails are meant to keep people connected and make getting outside and around the neighborhood easier.
Public Art: The name for Redtail Park comes from the Red-tailed Hawk, a common bird in North America that loves open grassy fields and prairie. The bird has a brassy red tail and can be seen in this area since open fields surround it. A metal sculpture titled “Hide and Seek” by artist Josh Bales can be found at the park. The sculpture is of a red-tailed hawk perched atop a curled tree made of multiple strands of galvanized metal. A small chipmunk hides in the tree's base, playing a game of "hide and seek" with the hawk.
Playground for All Ages and Abilities: From big slides to quiet picnic spots, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Kids can climb, spin, swing and explore on a wide slide built into a grassy hill, a sandstone climbing arch, and a fun spinner surrounded by swings. The main play structure includes a ramp, giving kids who use wheelchairs or other mobility devices access to play alongside their friends. For the youngest visitors, a smaller toddler area offers age-appropriate fun.
- Sport Courts: Sports lovers will have plenty of opportunities to stay active with new pickleball and basketball courts, both made from durable concrete built to last for years of play. Even better, the community gets to help decide the colors!
When it’s time to rest or refuel, families can enjoy shaded picnic areas with benches, tables and bike racks nearby. Restrooms will also be available to make your park visit comfortable and convenient.

The court will feature a green concrete surface with white lines. Your vote will help us design a court that reflects the energy and personality of the neighborhood. We need to choose one accent color to make it stand out

What is a bike playground?
The new bike playground at Redtail Park will give kids or anyone new to riding a bike a safe, fun place to learn to ride. Instead of practicing on sidewalks or streets, children can build skills in a space designed just for them. The open layout lets parents watch easily while kids explore, gain confidence, and have fun.
Bike playgrounds encourage kids to be active, practice balance, take turns, and enjoy time outdoors. They are spaces meant for learning and honing biking skills while having fun.
This is Greeley's first-ever bike playground. This new feature allows families to get outside, enjoy Greeley's parks together and connect with neighbors. Stay tuned for construction updates and an opening date.
