Why We Need to Close the Trail
Construction on the “Narrows” section of the Poudre River Trail at the end of November. This is necessary because there has been significant erosion impacting the trail and riverbank. Here’s what we plan to do:
Widen the trail from 6 feet to 12 feet. This change will make the trail safer and more comfortable for all users.
Stabilize the riverbank and trail. This will improve and enhance long-term trail stability, support public safety, and make the trail more resilient to future weather and environmental events..
The affected section of the trail and construction is expected to last several months and will be closed during that time. Nearby residential neighborhoods may experience temporary traffic changes due to construction activity. Make sure to plan ahead and watch for updates about closure dates, duration and access.
Additional information about construction and trail closure dates will be shared here as the project approaches. Residents and trail users should monitor City communications and signage at trail access points for updates.
A Stronger Trail for the Future
While construction will cause some temporary disruptions and affect the surrounding neighborhood, the result will be worth it. This project will help address ongoing erosion and improve the long-term stability of the Poudre River Trail.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we work to improve our community’s trail.
