The playground at Sanborn Park (28th Avenue & 28th Avenue Court) will be upgraded in 2023 to better serve the surrounding neighborhood's needs. The primary goal of this project is to build a new playground that fosters experience, growth, fun, and engagement for visitors.
Thank you to everyone that completed the playground survey and provided their ideas for a new playground at Josephine B. Jones Park. The survey is now closed.
What work will be done and where?
- The City will remove the existing playground equipment and upgrade it with newer, innovative, and more accessible play features.
- Crews will add more playground amenities to use the existing playground footprint fully.
- Crews will replace the playground safety surfacing.
Construction will be limited to the playground area. Other sidewalks and open spaces in the park will not be affected.

El área de juegos en Sanborn Park (28th Avenue y 28th Avenue Court) será renovada en el 2023 para servir mejor las necesidades del vecindario circundante. El objetivo principal de este proyecto es construir un nuevo parque infantil que fomente la experiencia, el crecimiento, la diversión y la participación de los visitantes.
Gracias a todos los que completaron la encuesta y proporcionaron sus ideas para una nueva área de juegos en Josephine B. Jones Park. La encuesta ya está cerrada.
¿Qué trabajo se está haciendo y en dónde?
- La Ciudad eliminará el equipo de juegos existente y lo actualizará con funciones de juego más nuevas, innovadoras y accesibles.
- Se agregarán más amenidades en el área de juegos para utilizar mejor el espacio disponible.
- Se reemplazará la superficie de seguridad del área de juegos.
La construcción se limitará al área de juegos. Otras aceras y espacios abiertos del parque no se verán afectados.

Avast ye! Sanborn's new playground is open for play. We hope you enjoy the new accessible amenities including slides, a zip line, a pirate ship climber, a friendly alligator and more.

Plans are still in motion to add some additional fencing for safety and play surfacing.

Sanborn's playground refresh has begun. Installation of the new playground will happen throughout the week.
Don't forget this is a construction zone. For your safety, please do not enter the area until the fencing has been removed.

Shiver me timbers! We are so excited for the new playground at Sanborn Park. This pirate themed update is sure to delight all ages. But first, city crews must demo the existing playground and prepare for the new equipment. Demolition is currently scheduled for November 2023, weather permitting.
Playground visitors will notice construction fencing around the playground site. Please do not climb over or tamper with the fencing. It is there to keep everyone safe.
