Delta Park
Re-Imagining Delta Park
Delta Park is a 6-acre neighborhood park in East Greeley. The park is positioned in the middle of nearby apartments, practically serving as a backyard for many homes. The City of Greeley is partnering with The Trust for Public Land (TPL), Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains, and other key partners to re-envision the space and address the limited opportunities for recreation and relaxation. The City hopes to build a sense of community connection, ownership, and pride in this neighborhood park and asks residents and community partners to guide the park's renovation.
Project Goals
By engaging with the community before renovating Delta Park, we hope to:
- Increase the use of Delta Park by the whole community, specifically the people who live close to the park, a large portion of whom are immigrants and refugee families;
- Improve understanding and cross-cultural relationships;
- Build a foundation of trust;
- Renovate the park based on the residents' shared preferences and priorities.
Community Engagement Strategies
In support of the project goals, the City and TPL will:
- employing the assistance of resident experts;
- holding community events;
- supporting culturally relevant programs in the park; and
- creating opportunities to listen and learn from the community.

Thank you to the 250+ residents that attended the September 11 'Meet Me in the Park' event at Delta Park. Attendees enjoyed a beautiful evening of soccer, basketball, volleyball, limbo (yes limbo), and shared their dreams and ideas for the future of Delta Park. In addition to numerous interactive activities, residents also considered, and were encouraged to sign, a draft community vision created by a group of local residents for Delta Park.
Draft Vision for Delta Park
'The park belongs to all of us and is a place where we enjoy each other's company and relax and have fun with our friends and families. This park is unique because the people who live here are from around the world and also have spent generations here. We are rooted to this place in our own unique ways. We are a community. We find joy in our similarities and in our differences. We celebrate one another and through the park we come together to celebrate our home and our traditions - we welcome you to join us! We play together, eat together, relax together, and gather here. This is our shared space, this is Delta Park.'Plans have begun for another event in October.

Phase 1 - April - December 2021: Community-Building Outreach
Delta Park has finished this stageFive events were held in 2021 during the first phase of outreach. Approximately 500-700 residents took part in different engagement activities. During these events, the City of Greeley and The Trust for Public Land asked the question: “How do you like to spend time outside with your family?” This question is a simple and direct way to understand the community’s priorities. Children shared how they like to play outside and adults shared their concerns and desires for Delta Park via an interactive Delta Park Dream Tree activity.
A weekly “Coffee and Tea Talk” was established, hosted by a local community liaison, Gloria. This informal gathering gave residents another opportunity to express how they view the park, barriers they have experienced to the use and enjoyment of the park, and how they think the City of Greeley can improve the park in a way that addresses those barriers. Childcare and translation were provided. -
Phase 2 - January - June 2022: Community Visioning Engagement

The survey is available through July 15 at www.greeleygov.com/delta
