The Twin Rivers Playground project aims to transform the playground at 1501 65th Avenue into a vibrant, inclusive play space for all children. We plan to replace outdated equipment with modern, accessible play structures that everyone can use. We want to create a safe, fun place where all kids can play, be active, make friends, and enjoy being outside. We plan to expand the playground to make it a central feature to provide more opportunities for play, exploration and community enjoyment. This update will make the playground a fun and inclusive part of Twin Rivers Community Park, which has an outdoor theater, ball fields, a nature trail, a pond, and the Family FunPlex. You can share your ideas through an online survey, and your feedback will help shape the playground design.
Project Goals
Make Playgrounds for Everyone: Create a welcoming space where children of all abilities can play, interact, and explore together.
Update Play Equipment:Replace aging structures with new, durableand accessible structures that will last a long time.
Get Kids Outside: Create fun-themed play areas for kids to play outdoors and a place for siblings to play during baseball and softball games.
Help Kids Make Friends: Design spaces where kids can play together and learn social skills.
Make the Playground Safer: Install a soft, shock-absorbing surface and ensure all equipment meets safety standards.

Thank you to everyone who took the survey and provided input. Results from this survey will help shape the design. Here is what we heard:
Swings are the #1 request - Mentioned by dozens of respondents as the most desired addition, including baby swings and accessible swings for all abilities
Post and deck with unifying theme ranked highest among playground structures, followed by nature play with organic materials.
Age-appropriate equipment needed- There is strong demand for separate areas serving both toddlers (2-5) and older kids (6-12), with many noting the current equipment is too young-focused
Safety improvements around the pond- Multiple requests for fencing or barriers to keep small children safe near the water
Shade and Water Play features - Frequent mentions of needing sun protection over equipment and water play features, especially given Greeley's hot summers
Keep the low-to-ground, toddler-friendly elements - Many parents praised the current park's safety for young children and want that preserved alongside expanded options.
The project team will take this feedback, consider possible options with the project budget, and start drafting a design. The draft design will be shared with the public via Speak Up Greeley and the city's social media channels. The design will take place from now until winter 2025. Residents can see construction in 2026.
